YOUNG WIDOWS + EMMA RUTH RUNDLE by Christopher Wiezorek

Young Widows' tour celebrating the tenth anniversary of Old Wounds resumed at Saint Vitus Bar. They were accompanied by Emma Ruth Rundle as the opening act. Emma performed solo, mostly acoustic. She held a captivated audience for the duration of her set. Her voice commanded attention, and those in attendance gladly remained silent in what was a very memorable set. Young Widows took the stage in their signature darkness, punctuated by spotlights as the music kicks into gear. Old Wounds is a favorite record of mine, and I believe this was my third time seeing them play it the entire way through. Evan Patterson, of Young Widows, reminded the room how special it is to spend this time together, enjoying each other's company and the music that binds the band along with everyone in the room. As time rolls on, seeing Young Widows continues to become more and more special, run don't walk if you get the chance to see them.

A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE & ART OF CALEB SCOFIELD: CAVE IN + ZOZOBRA + CONVERGE + OLD MAN GLOOM + THE CANCER CONSPIRACY by Christopher Wiezorek

June 13, 2018 presented one of the best shows I have ever attended. Less than ideal circumstances brought this tremendous lineup together to celebrate the life and artwork of Caleb Scofield. The show was truly a celebration; each band brought a spirit and performance that is quite hard to put to words. All of the bands put on exceptional performances, with special appearances by Stephen Brodsky, Nate Newton, and Kyle Scofield (Caleb's brother) performing in Caleb's place in each of his projects. The outpouring of love and support for the occasion was clearly apparent throughout the evening. I am more than thrilled that I was able to attend such a special show. Special thanks to Santos Montano for setting me up with a photo pass. Enjoy and consider donating to the benefit fund

FULL OF HELL + GATECREEPER + LUMINOUS VAULT by Christopher Wiezorek

Saint Vitus Bar welcomed The Sweltering Ecstasy Tour last night (06.11.2018) for two shows. I attended the early show. Luminous Vault plays an industrial style of metal with hints of death and black thrown in for good measure. They were an unknown quantity for me, and they did not disappoint. Another first, for me, Gatecreeper absolutely crushed. They lived up to every expectation I had, and then some. I have seen Full of Hell a number of times. They never disappoint; frenetic, blistering, and devastating. Photo evidence below.
